AUDIENCE:
The audience for this course is nurses and nurse practitioners specializing in cardiovascular disease prevention and management.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
  1. Understand current national guidelines and recommended treatment goals for both primary and secondary cardiovascular disease prevention
  2. Assess global risk factors including lifestyle, nutrition, physical activity, cholesterol, hypertension, smoking, diabetes, and obesity
  3. Review medications in a variety of drug classifications, prescribed in both primary and secondary prevention for all cardiovascular risk factors
  4. Explore compliance strategies for enhancement of risk factor reduction interventions
  5. Use resource tables, web sites and references that will promote improved access to information and materials for health care providers and their patients
